Lee on weapons

Hi y'all,

I told you I was going to do my research about firearms and get back to you.
So, here it goes.

Number one choice of weapon during the apocalypse should be a rifle.
Any kind of hunting rifle should be ok.
It's good for picking off enemies from a distance, the only con is that most of them are heavy which gets in the way for quick getaways, also it's not that manouvreble in tight spots.
When you're in a tight spot, like I said before, you should go for the handgun, a 9mm pistol should do. When you like it big or are the kind of guy/gal that sticks to bigger is better standards you can go for the .45 magnum, this gun puts a hole in almost everything. The 9mm has a bigger capacity and accuracy because of the drawback, so that would be my pick. Than again the revolver is easier in upkeep as the pistol is more advanced in " technology ".
The rifle and the handgun should be in every survivors possesion, an other good idea should be the shotgun. The 12gauge should be a good choice, my guess is that it is also available in every gun- or huntingstore in the USA or other "guntollerant" continent/place but my guess is as good as any because the only huntingstore in my imediate location is a fishingstore. The pro's of a shotgun are that it's good for "crowd-control", big firepower and sturdy. The con's than again are that it's not good for distance-shooting and that it's apparently really slow to reload. Assaultrifles like the AK47 are really just overkill, they are not designed to kill rather to just wound, I'm not going to argue that if you shoot a bullet through the head it's game over but it has the ability to shoot lots of bullets in a short amount of time to mow down and incapacitate soldiers, in my modest opinion that just means wasting critical ammo on inaffective wounds against the undead, the same goes for an SMG. Best take a sniper-rifle, they are really accurate hence the name sniper-rifle, the cons are that they are heavy, slow to reload and not easy to manouvre.

What my reader also told me is that in the start of the apocalypse for most people it probably isn't going to be easy to kill zombies because of the nature of humans to not harm one and other. It isn't difficult to pull a trigger but doing so while aiming at a person, living or dead, is a whole different chapter. If you are going to survive one should never hesitate to strike.
